Wearing the “Pearls”
Nike Air Foamposite Pro — Pearl
Release: Sept. 3, 2010
Retail: $200
Welcome to comfort. The Nike Air Foamposite Pro, a derivative of the Air Foamposite One popularized by Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway, sticks to an essential Foamposite tradition: blend maximum comfort with stunning style. The Pro adds a bold Nike swoosh to the shoe and offsets the dominant, off-white hue to the foam.
By design, these “Pearls” (or “Champagne” to few) hug the foot to offer supreme support. Since I’m not wearing the Foamposites on the hardwood or blacktop anytime soon (read: ever), I find it logical to loosen the laces. The Foams’ technology means the shoe will still snuggle against your feet, even if not laced to optimize your athletic performance.
Yes, snuggle.
And the best part of the shoe, for me, is that I almost never had them. Every time I see them, it’s like a pleasant surprise. See, the original plan was to pass since I secured the “Eggplant” Foamposite colorway a month prior, but after perusing Foot Locker and trying them on, I knew they were must-have shoes.
It’s the diversity of the sneaker that’s most impressive. Most obviously, they’re a logical combination with any tan or cream-colored shirts; one could default to black, as well. But the shoes also complement any well-executed arrangements of green or burgundy perfectly. It’s always good to have a few pairs of shoes that aren’t designated for specific outfits and color schemes.
